[Alpha Biz= Reporter Paul Lee] Recent errors in the government's online complaint service, Government 24, have prompted the Personal Information Protection Commission to initiate an investigation into the matter. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety stated that all data mistakenly delivered to third parties due to the errors have been promptly deleted, and the related services are operating normally.

According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 6th, errors in the Government 24 service in early last month led to 646 cases of education complaints and 587 cases of tax certificates being issued to third parties instead of the actual complainants. In the process of applying for education complaints, information from individuals other than the applicants was issued. In the case of corporate tax certificates, instead of the business registration number, the name and resident registration number of the corporate representative were displayed.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety explained that the cause of the problem was a developer's programming error. They stated that all mistakenly issued documents have been deleted, and the affected individuals have been informed of the relevant details via phone calls and postal mail. In addition to notifying the victims, they reported the incident to the Personal Information Protection Commission within 72 hours, in accordance with regulations related to personal information protection.

The Personal Information Protection Commission plans to examine whether the entire process of handling personal information, including the actual leakage and subsequent measures, has been carried out in accordance with regulations.
