[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Oh Se-hoon, the mayor of Seoul, has reportedly not submitted an application for the ruling party’s nomination for the upcoming local election.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on March 8, the mayor’s office sent a message to reporters stating that Oh had previously emphasized the need to first “restore the party’s direction and leadership.”

“Mayor Oh said on March 7 that resolving the preliminary task of normalizing the party’s direction could turn a path of defeat into a path of victory,” the statement said. “His position remains unchanged, and he is waiting for a response from the party leadership and lawmakers.”

The deadline to apply for the People Power Party nomination for metropolitan mayoral candidates in the June 3 local elections was 6 p.m. on March 8, but Oh did not submit an application.

Earlier on March 7, Oh wrote on Facebook that candidates must at least “enter the battlefield with the minimum conditions required to win.”
He also urged party leaders to create a forum for a full and open debate, saying, “Start by setting up a place where a thorough discussion can take place.”
