[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SEOUL, June 16 — Doosan Enerbility announced that it has secured a contract to build a gas-fired combined cycle power plant in Oman as part of a consortium led by Korea Western Power.

The contract, valued at approximately 530 billion won ($400 million), covers the construction of the Duqm gas combined cycle power plant project.

Doosan Enerbility will execute the project on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis in partnership with SEPCO-3. The company will also manufacture and supply key equipment, including steam turbines and generators.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2029.

The 870-megawatt power plant will be built in the Duqm Special Economic Zone, located about 550 kilometers south of Muscat, the capital of Oman.

Once completed, the facility is expected to help meet rising electricity demand in southern Oman and enhance the stability of the region’s power supply.

The project is commissioned by a consortium comprising Korea Western Power, Nebras Power, Emirates Water and Electricity Company, and Bahwan Infrastructure Services.
