[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] A former manager accused of leaking Samsung Electronics' semiconductor technology to China has been put on trial under arrest.

According to legal circles on the 3rd, the Information Technology Crime Investigation Department (Chief Prosecutor Lee Choon) of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office recently arrested and indicted Kim, a former head of Samsung Electronics, and Bang, a former employee of a semiconductor equipment supplier, who is suspected of violating the law on the prevention and protection of industrial technology.

Kim is suspected of leaking information on the 18-nano DRAM semiconductor process without permission and having it be used to develop products for Chinese company Changshin Memory Technology (CXMT). DRAM is one of the components used as the main memory of a computer and has a large capacity and fast processing speed.

Kim is also accused of colluding with Bang to leak data on A's semiconductor deposition equipment design technology without permission.

The prosecution is known to suspect that Kim received tens of billions of won in bribes when he moved to a Chinese company.

The Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant for them on the 15th of last month, judging that there is a possibility of destroying evidence.

The prosecution has launched further investigations into the accomplices involved in the technology leak.
