[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyundai Rotem's U.S. subsidiary has been selected as the final bidder for the "LA Metro Train Supply Project" by the Los Angeles County Transportation Authority (LACMTA) in California, the company said on the 6th. The business size is $ 600 million (about 8,845 billion won).

According to Hyundai Rotem, LACMTA finally chose Hyundai Rotem by replacing old trains that have been operated for more than 30 years since 1993 and publicly recruiting train suppliers in preparation for a significant increase in demand for movement during the 2028 LA Olympics and Paralympics.

The new train can operate up to six trains in two trains (a method of connecting and operating vehicles). The train will travel between downtown LA and northern Hollywood and downtown LA to Koreatown.

Hyundai Rotem was recognized in the evaluation for its achievements in speeding up its operation schedule, including early delivery of vehicles in its unmanned train supply business in Vancouver, Canada, in 2005 and 2018.
