[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] It is analyzed that LG Display will supply 700,000 to 800,000 WOLEDs to Samsung Electronics.
"We believe that LG Display and Samsung Electronics have signed a long-term supply contract," said Jung Yoon-sung, executive vice president of Omdia Korea at the 'Korea Display Conference' held at El Tower in Seoul on the 13th. "We expect the initial supply of this year to be 700,000 to 800,000 units."
Samsung Electronics has a lineup of 55, 65, 77 and 83 types in the OLED TV field. LG Display is planning to supply OLED panels to all Samsung Electronics products such as 42, 48, 55 and 77.
As cooperation between the two companies strengthens, LG Display is expected to secure a stable profit structure in OLEDs for TVs.
Director Chung analyzed that Samsung Display will have 1.4 million OLED shipments for TVs and 6 million LG Display units. It is also expected that 3.5 million to 4 million units of LG Display's 6 million shipments will be supplied to LG Electronics. Samsung Display is expected to supply 1.1 million units to Samsung Electronics.
OLEDs for monitors are expected to increase significantly this year from last year. Samsung Display is expected to increase by 155.6% and 58.5%, respectively, to 1.38 million units and LG Display to 450,000 units.
