According to the IT industry and Personal Information Protection Commission on the 6th, Google and Meta filed an administrative lawsuit in the middle of last month to cancel the disposal, saying the renovation was unfair. No date for the first hearing has been set.
In September last year, Personal Information Protection Commission imposed a fine of 69.2 billion won on Google and 30.8 billion won on Meta, saying that Google and Meta violated the Personal Information Protection Act by collecting personal information without user consent and using it for online customized advertisements.
Google and Meta are protesting that websites or app service providers, not platform operators, should take responsibility for users' consent to collect behavioral information. They claim that they simply received or were entrusted with the processing of personal information collected by other operators.
