Hanwha Group, which was selected as the preferred bidder for the Jamsil Sports and MICE complex space creation project, faced difficulties from the beginning of the project.
This is because the worsening economy has worsened funding conditions and met unfavorable factors such as the construction of dome baseball stadiums and securing publicity, which require additional business expenses.
According to the industry on March 6, Hanwha has been negotiating with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to sign an implementation agreement since March last year. According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the signing of the implementation agreement, originally planned for the first half of this year, has been delayed to the end of this year. For this reason, the start of construction, which was scheduled for the second half of this year, was also delayed for more than a year to December next year.
The Jamsil MICE project is a project to create a complex facility such as exhibition and convention facilities, baseball stadiums, hotels, and commercial and business facilities around Jamsil Stadium.
The cost of the project is 2.1672 trillion won. It will be carried out in a private investment project (BTO) in which the implementer pays the full cost of the project and recovers the investment while operating it for 40 years. Hanwha was selected as the preferred bidder in a bid organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in December 2021, beating the Korea International Trade Association.
