[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Kyung Kye-hyun, CEO of Samsung Electronics' DS division, expressed confidence in his HBM.

President Kyung said on his social network service (SNS) on the 15th, "It is exciting to be engaged in a business that creates a strong synergy effect with artificial intelligence (AI)," and added, "Samsung semiconductor products such as Shine Bolt are the leader in generative AI applications." "We are ready to significantly improve speed and efficiency."

'Shinebolt' is the product name of Samsung Electronics' 5th generation high bandwidth memory 'HBM3E'. HBM is attracting attention as an essential memory for AI.

"Our engineers are trying to predict comprehensive AI architecture, ranging from smartwatches, mobile, edge devices to the cloud, and advanced AI solutions needed in the future," he said. "Samsung semiconductors will provide the solutions needed to make AI vision a reality."

Currently, the entire HBM market, including HBM3, is led by SK Hynix, and Samsung Electronics, which virtually divides the entire market, is rapidly chasing. President Kyung's direct mention of HBM3E is interpreted as his willingness to take the lead in the HBM market through next-generation products.

To this end, Samsung Electronics plans to increase its HBM facility investment more than 2.5 times this year from last year. Following HBM3E, HBM4, the next generation product, is also a strategy to increase market competitiveness.

Meanwhile, Kyung Kye-hyun is expected to visit 'MWC 2024', the world's largest mobile communication exhibition to be held at the end of this month and hold business meetings with AI semiconductor-related customers.
