SK Telecom is strengthening its open LAN technology base for improving 5G services and laying the foundation for 6G.
SK Telecom announced on the 10th that it has joined hands with Nokia to install Korea's first cloud-based open LAN (open wireless connection network) virtualization base station in a commercial network to demonstrate 5G performance. The two companies confirmed stable 5G service and coverage performance through field tests.
Since the beginning of last year, SK Telecom has been working with Nokia to develop cloud-based virtualization base stations. OpenLAN is a technology that separates the hardware and software of mobile communication equipment and standardizes the interface between equipment so that equipment from different manufacturers can be linked.
