[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] LG Electronics announced on December 21 that its Japanese subsidiary has partnered with Yusen, Japan’s leading food and beverage point-of-sale (POS) provider, to supply digital kiosks across restaurants and cafes nationwide. Pilot operations began in October at cafes and restaurants in central Tokyo as well as tourist-area restaurants near Nikko.
By combining LG’s kiosks with Yusen’s order and payment solutions, the partnership aims to accelerate digital transformation in Japanese F&B outlets. Japan’s aging population and declining workforce, coupled with an increase in foreign tourists, are driving strong demand for kiosks. Many establishments are replacing traditional button-based ticket machines with digital kiosks.
LG’s 27-inch kiosks feature fast touch response, high-resolution panels, and anti-reflective surfaces for clear visibility under various lighting conditions. Yusen’s POS software provides intuitive UI/UX, multilingual ordering, AI-powered menu recommendations, and order data analytics to enhance operational efficiency.
The two companies plan to expand their collaboration to include additional kiosk models and digital signage solutions in the future.
