[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Intelligence Information Society Promotion Agency announced the results of the 2023 communication service coverage inspection and quality evaluation on the 27th.
As of October this year, the outdoor 5G coverage area unveiled by the telecommunication company averaged 75,763.59 square kilometers by three companies, with 5G being built on 75.25 percent of the country's land area.
In particular, the three telecommunications companies said they have built 5G coverage for subway stations and routes across the country, high-speed railway stations and routes, and highway routes.
According to a sample inspection of the accuracy of 5G coverage map information in 200 legal buildings nationwide, it was found that 5G coverage was overstated in the legal buildings of the three companies (SKT 2, 2.7 for KT 2 and 4 for LG U+).
The ratio of 5G access to major facilities was 96.62% on average for the three companies. The lower the 5G connection rate, the wider the service shadow area with weak 5G radio signal strength within the main facility.
Among major facilities, there are 20 facilities (5G insufficient facilities) with a 5G access ratio of less than 90%, with an average of 20 for SKT 17, 5 for KT 28 and 15 for LG U+.
