[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Shilla Duty Free Shop, Shinsegae Duty Free Shop and Hyundai Department Store Duty Free Shop were selected as candidates for the screening in the bidding for new duty-free shops at Incheon International Airport.
Incheon International Airport Corp. said on the 17th that it has selected multiple operators for each business based on the evaluation of business proposals submitted by four local duty-free shops, including Shilla, Lotte, Shinsegae and Hyundai, and five companies including China's state-run Duty Free Group (CDFG) and the results of the bidding.
China's CDFG, which was considered the biggest variable in the bidding, was not selected as a business operator. CDFG was expected to make aggressive bids based on capital strength, but it was reported that the bid failed due to lower-than-expected bids. In addition, Lotte Duty Free is expected to withdraw from Incheon International Airport and focus only on the city duty-free business as it has not been selected as a candidate for the operator.
Upon receiving notification of the selection candidates, the Korea Customs Service will conduct a patent review next month and notify Incheon International Airport Corp. of who will win the final business right.
