[Alpha Biz= Kim Sangjin] SK Hynix has been sued by Advanced Memory Technologies LLC (AMT) for allegedly infringing on semiconductor memory module patents.

According to reports from Bloomberg Law and other foreign media on Thursday, AMT filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claiming that SK Hynix violated four patents related to memory modules. These patents involve booster circuits, internal voltage generation circuits, and semiconductor memory devices.

In the complaint, AMT stated that SK Hynix, which has a U.S. subsidiary in Texas, generated $12 billion in sales in the U.S. during the first half of last year alone, accounting for more than half of its total revenue.

SK Hynix has faced patent disputes in the past.

In 2016 and 2017, U.S. semiconductor company Netlist filed two lawsuits against SK Hynix with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), alleging infringement of its U.S. semiconductor technology patents. The ITC concluded there was no patent infringement.

Later, in 2020, Netlist filed another lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. That dispute was resolved in 2021 when both parties reached a cross-licensing agreement.
