[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Rebellions, a leading South Korean AI semiconductor startup, announced on the 2nd that it has completed its merger with Sapeon Korea (Sapeon) and will officially operate under the name "Rebellions."

The merger process, which was first announced in June, was finalized after six months. Based on the merger ratio, the combined entity’s corporate value is estimated at approximately KRW 1.3 trillion.

This merger was driven by a shared understanding of the urgency to achieve economies of scale and strengthen collaboration in the AI semiconductor sector, as AI infrastructure becomes a critical security and strategic asset. The merger positions Rebellions with the workforce, resources, and partnerships necessary to compete on a global scale.

The merged company will be led by Rebellions' CEO, Park Sung-hyun, as the sole representative. A graduate of MIT’s computer science Ph.D. program, Park is an expert in AI and system semiconductors with experience at Intel, SpaceX, and Morgan Stanley, spanning both Silicon Valley and Wall Street.

With new strategic investors joining through the merger, Rebellions plans to expand its business domains. Existing stakeholders from Sapeon, including SK Telecom and SK Hynix, will actively support the company's growth. In collaboration with SK Telecom, Rebellions aims to establish a presence in the global AI data center market, targeting key regions such as the U.S., Saudi Arabia, and Japan.
