[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced on the 18th that it has signed a 67 billion won contract with the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) to develop a "super-small satellite system SAR verification satellite (K model)."

The contract period is until June 2027, and it will conduct satellite development and launch for about four years and carry out mission tests in outer space.

Through its business, KAI will expand its existing mid- and large-sized satellite portfolio to ultra-small ones. It also plans to promote satellite export industrialization, which is the core of New Space, based on satellite mass production infrastructure.

KAI declared 'Global KAI 2050' vision in January and selected space business as one of the six core projects of the future and is expanding its business area.
