[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Hanwha Ocean announced on Jan. 8 that a fatal industrial accident occurred at its Geoje shipyard, involving a directly employed worker at the PAS Plant (sub-assembly facility).
According to the company, the worker was found unconscious in a personal rest area during the early morning hours. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
The worker was discovered by a colleague and immediately received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before being urgently transported to a nearby hospital. Despite emergency medical treatment, the worker was later pronounced dead.
Police and other relevant authorities have launched a joint investigation to determine the precise cause of the incident.
Hanwha Ocean stated that it is continuing to identify additional details related to the circumstances of the accident and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
