POSCO International has signed a contract with Hyundai Motor to supply 2.5 million units of DriveMoterCore

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] POSCO International said in an electronic public announcement on the 8th that its subsidiary POSCO Mobility Solution has signed a contract with Hyundai Motor to supply 2.5 million next-generation high-end flagship electric vehicles to be mass-produced from 2025 to 2034. Drive Motorcore is a key component that constitutes the driving motor, the heart of eco-friendly cars, along with secondary batteries.

Prior to this, POSCO Mobility Solutions also confirmed a contract to supply 3.4 million units of Hyundai Motor's next-generation hybrid SUV vehicles in November last year and 950,000 units of the subcompact electric vehicle SUV model in January this year. Adding the 2.5 million units that POSCO Mobility Solutions has won this time, it will supply a total of 6.85 million units over the next 10 years from 2025 to 2034.

In order to expand its eco-friendly mobility business, POSCO International plans to operate overseas plants in North America, Europe and China, including Korea, to establish more than 7 million drive Motorcore global production and sales system by 2030 and secure more than 10% of the global market share. In Korea, it is preparing for the explosive increase in demand for the eco-friendly car motor market by establishing a production system for 2 million units of Drive Mortorcore in Cheonan and Pohang.
