[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Malaysian military authorities have asked for the FA-50M scripture speculation radar to be loaded on U.S. products, not Israeli ones.

An official from the Korea Aerospace Industries (047810) said on the 5th, "We understand that an agreement was reached with the Malaysian FA-50M on the installation of US radar at the request of a customer (Malaysian military authorities)."

In February, Malaysia's Defense Ministry signed an LOA (Letter of Acceptance) with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to export FA-50 and signed a final contract last month after discussing details for three months. 18 units will be introduced from 2026, and the contract size is 1.2 trillion won.

The FA-50 is equipped with an Israeli mechanical radar, EL/M-2032, as a basic specification, and Malaysia is known to have requested its own delivery model, FA-50M, to be equipped with an American AESA (Active Phase Array) radar.

Malaysia is known not to prefer an Israeli weapons system as it is an Islamic country. LIG Nex1, a South Korean defense company, also released a prototype of its AESA radar, but several stages of testing remain before it can be mounted on the FA-50.
