The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport "investigation on whether passengers violate the Aviation Security Act related to the opening of doors"

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, "The police's first investigation confirmed that passengers attempted to open the door of the Asiana aircraft (OZ8124) from Jeju to Daegu just before landing at around 12:37 p.m. on the 26th.

Article 23 of the Aviation Security Act states that "passengers shall not operate doors, exits, or devices on aircraft." In violation of this, he/she may be sentenced to up to ten years in prison pursuant to Article 46 of the Aviation Security Act.

Meanwhile, the second vice minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport inspected the site of the emergency door opening accident of the aircraft pending at Daegu Airport. It also held a safety meeting involving airlines, the Busan Regional Aviation Administration and the Korea Airports Corp. and ordered the recurrence of aviation safety accidents by investigating the cause and strengthening management of emergency doors.
