[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Seoul, Sept. 3 — Yoon-Hong Heo, CEO of GS Engineering & Construction (GS E&C), issued an apology on Tuesday following the death of a worker at a construction site in Seoul.

“This is an intolerable incident, and we will conduct a thorough investigation,” Heo stated in a letter of apology released under his name.

GS E&C announced that it has immediately suspended all operations at the accident site and will launch a company-wide special inspection to identify and eliminate safety risks at all of its construction sites.

“With the determination to start again from zero, we will rigorously review our practices and make every possible effort to strengthen site management systems that place the highest priority on worker safety,” Heo emphasized.

Earlier in the day, a worker died after falling at a GS E&C apartment construction site in Yongdap-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul.
