[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Negotiations for the second export contract of K2 tanks to Poland are nearing completion. Hyundai Rotem has reportedly concluded major terms—such as tank quantities—with Poland’s state-owned defense group PGZ, and is currently finalizing technical details related to parts production ahead of the official signing. South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) aims to seal the deal by the end of this month.

According to military sources and Polish media reports on June 6, the second contract will include 180 K2 series tanks, consisting of both K2PL (a Polish localized model) and K2GF (Gap Filler) versions. A larger portion of the order is said to be K2GF, which is priced lower than the K2PL.

In addition, the deal will feature 81 units of K2-based variant vehicles, which are customized armored vehicles developed from the K2 tank platform. These are more advanced than the variant vehicles currently used by the South Korean military, which are based on the older K1 platform.

If finalized, this will mark the second K2 tank export contract to Poland, following the first agreement signed nearly three years ago.
