[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Woori Technology announced on the 5th that cumulative orders in the nuclear power plant sector, a core business, rose 198% year-on-year to 50 billion won in the first eight months of this year.

This is the largest order performance in the last eight years. Woori Technology predicts that it will record the largest sales ever on a consolidated basis this year due to a sharp increase in orders for the nuclear power plant project.

Woori Technology signed a contract to supply nuclear control system (MMIS) worth 37.2 billion won for the construction of new nuclear power plants in Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4 by April. At the same time, the company has won about 12.8 billion won in nuclear power plant-related measurement projects, including measuring facilities for new export-type research reactors and improving facilities for operating nuclear power plants.

In the fourth quarter, additional MMIS contracts for new nuclear power plants of Shinhanul Units 3 and 4 are scheduled. In addition, additional orders of more than 24 billion won are expected through various facility contracts for the continued operation of operating nuclear power plants. Woori Technology expects to achieve an annual cumulative order of about 70 billion won this year, which is the largest ever.

The outlook for future orders is also positive due to the growth of the nuclear power industry, which is a front-line industry. Woori Technology is the only company in Korea that supplies nuclear power plant measurement control systems, and it is expected to benefit directly from the government's overseas nuclear power plant orders. Currently, the government is in negotiations with Poland, the Czech Republic and Turkey to win nuclear power plant orders.
