[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SEOUL, October 27, 2025 — According to an exclusive report by Edaily, SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (KRX: 017670) has seen a slight decline in its ownership stake in Konan Technology Inc., an artificial intelligence (AI) solutions partner, after opting not to participate in the company’s latest paid-in capital increase (rights offering).

A filing disclosed on the Financial Supervisory Service’s electronic disclosure system (DART) shows that SK Telecom’s shareholding fell from 21.88% (2,564,807 shares) to 18.85% (2,359,160 shares) — a decrease of 3.03 percentage points, equivalent to 205,647 shares.

In response, SK Telecom emphasized that the adjustment is purely financial and does not affect its strategic relationship with Konan Technology.

“Our investment in Konan Technology was made to strengthen strategic cooperation in the AI sector,” an SK Telecom official told Edaily. “This capital increase was not directly related to that objective, so we chose not to participate. The strategic partnership remains unchanged.”

SK Telecom became the second-largest shareholder of Konan Technology in 2022 after acquiring a 20.77% stake from SK Communications. At that time, Yang Seung-hyun, Konan’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), also concurrently served as CTO of SK Telecom, reflecting the companies’ close collaboration in AI development and data analytics.

Despite the reduced stake, both firms reaffirmed that they will continue to pursue joint AI initiatives, including enterprise data platforms and generative AI applications.
