[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Seoul, July 2, 2025 — Shares of KT Corp. and LG Uplus came under pressure in early trading following reports that both telecom operators suffered hacking attacks earlier this year. As of 9:18 a.m., LG Uplus (KQ:032640) was down 3.67% at KRW 13,910, while KT (KQ:030200) fell 2.44% to KRW 52,000.

According to cybersecurity publication Phrack, sensitive data from LG Uplus — including source code, database information, details of 8,938 servers, and more than 42,000 accounts — was allegedly compromised through April. KT was also reportedly affected, with indications that SSL certificates had been leaked, though these certificates have since expired.

The Ministry of Science and ICT confirmed it is conducting a forensic investigation. Meanwhile, SK Telecom (KQ:017670), which recently faced its own data breach, was trading 0.36% higher at KRW 55,000 at the same time.
