[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] The Financial Services Commission's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) is set to begin an on-site inspection of Bithumb, following a similar inspection of the cryptocurrency exchange Upbit.

According to financial sources on the 7th, the FIU will conduct the inspection of Bithumb from the 17th for 10 days. The inspection will focus on issues such as cryptocurrency transactions with unregistered foreign crypto asset businesses, compliance with customer verification obligations under the Specific Financial Information Act, and potential violations of transaction restriction duties.

Previously, the FIU conducted an on-site inspection of Dunamu, the operator of Upbit, and as a result, imposed a three-month business suspension on Dunamu, issued a reprimand to CEO Lee Seok-woo, dismissed the compliance officer, and imposed sanctions on nine employees.
