[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Boosted by the rapid growth of its High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) business, SK Hynix achieved record-breaking earnings last year. The company plans to conclude negotiations with key clients, including Nvidia, for next year's HBM supply by the first half of this year.
The upcoming contracts are expected to include next-generation HBM4 products. SK Hynix is also expanding its production capacity to meet rising demand, reinforcing its leadership in the AI memory market.
Currently, SK Hynix supplies its fifth-generation HBM3E 12-layer chips to major customers, including Nvidia. If the company secures full orders for next year’s supply in the ongoing negotiations, a significant portion of the volume is likely to include sixth-generation HBM4 12-layer products.
SK Hynix aims to begin mass production of HBM4 12-layer chips in the second half of this year and has already supplied the world’s first samples to key customers.
To accommodate growing demand, SK Hynix is continuously expanding its production capacity. The company plans to manufacture HBM using its cutting-edge 1b-nanometer process at the M15X fab in Cheongju, set for completion by the end of this year.
Additionally, SK Hynix is developing a next-generation memory production hub at the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster, where it aims to start phased cleanroom construction, targeting mass production in Q1 2028.
