SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won to Miss National Assembly Hearing on SK Telecom SIM Hacking Incident

[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won will not attend the National Assembly hearing scheduled for May 8 regarding the recent SK Telecom SIM card hacking incident.



According to the National Assembly’s Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee, Chairman Chey submitted a formal letter of non-attendance, citing his participation in a U.S. trade event in preparation for the upcoming APEC Ministerial Meeting.



In the letter, Chey expressed his sincere apologies, stating, “I deeply apologize to the National Assembly and the public for the concerns caused by the hacking incident.”



He also added, “We are mobilizing all available resources to contain the situation and prevent further damage.”



Previously, the National Assembly had decided to hold an exclusive hearing on the incident and designated Chey as a witness.
