[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics' German subsidiary recently fell victim to a serious hacking attack, leading to the leak of personal data of around 270,000 customers online.

According to Israeli security company HudsonRock, a hacker using the ID 'GHNA' publicly spread the data of customers who had contacted Samsung's German service center.

HudsonRock analyzed that GHNA conducted the hack based on data leaked during an Infostealer attack on Spectos in 2021. Spectos is a company that provides customer management services for logistics and e-commerce companies, including Samsung Electronics.

Previously, the Raccoon Infostealer attack had resulted in the mass theft of employee identification information from Spectos.

The leaked data reportedly includes users' names, home addresses, email addresses, device model numbers, and order numbers.

Security experts are expressing deep concern, as such information can be used for sophisticated fraud both online and offline. With the recent advancement of generative AI technologies, the analysis and utilization of this data have become more precise, further increasing security risks.

Samsung Electronics' German subsidiary stated, "We are currently assessing the exact situation and will utilize all possible means to prevent the spread of further damage."
