[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Foreign investors bought Samsung Electronics about KRW 1 trillion when September began.

According to the Korea Exchange on the 6th, foreigners bought 981.6 billion won worth of Samsung Electronics for four consecutive trading days from the 1st of this month to the day. Foreigners' monthly net purchases of Samsung Electronics exceeded 1 trillion won, and it is unusual that foreigners bought about 1 trillion won in the last four days of trading in June this year (1.6725 trillion won).

Foreigners bought a net KRW 792 billion worth of Samsung Electronics in July and sold KRW 1.8 billion in August. The financial investment industry already expects that if explosive buying by foreigners continues at Samsung Electronics as it is now, it could easily surpass April (3.1 trillion won), the largest monthly net purchase this year.

Analysts say the index is also supporting the mid-2,500 mark as foreigners bought a large number of Samsung Electronics, the KOSPI's leading stock. In fact, foreigners bought a net KRW 874.3 billion on the KOSPI from the 1st of this month to the same day, smaller than Samsung Electronics' net purchase (KRW 981.6 billion). This means that most of the KOSPI stocks except Samsung Electronics have been sold.

Especially, we sold semiconductor stocks such as SK Hynix (000660) (-126.5 billion won) and Hanmi Semiconductor (042700) (-8 billion won) and secondary stocks such as LG Energy Solution (373220) (-69.1 billion won).

Foreigners also posted net selling of 164.7 billion won on the KOSDAQ in September. While the KOSPI index rose 0.28% this month and the KOSDAQ fell 1.13%, Samsung Electronics jumped 4.63%. Samsung Electronics closed at 70,000 won, down 0.99%.
