[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on Thursday that the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board (ARAIB) has been conducting a preliminary investigation since 5:55 AM on the 29th to determine the cause of the fire. This includes on-site inspections, crew statements, and the collection of relevant materials.

On the same day, at 10 AM and 2 PM, the investigation board held discussions with the National Forensic Service, the police forensic team, and fire authorities regarding fire analysis. Later, at 4 PM, a meeting was held with the French Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA), the aircraft's design and manufacturing authority, to discuss the investigation's progress.

The Air Busan aircraft that caught fire at Gimhae International Airport on the 28th was carrying 35,900 pounds of fuel, passenger emergency oxygen cylinders, and other hazardous materials.

To prevent secondary accidents such as explosions, the investigation board plans to prioritize checking cargo compartment damage, determining the need for fuel removal, and assessing whether emergency oxygen cylinders should be separated.

If fuel removal is deemed unnecessary after safety measures are in place, a joint fire analysis will be conducted immediately with relevant agencies and the BEA. If no unusual findings emerge, the process of returning checked baggage will commence.
