[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The proposal to dismiss Prime Minister Han Duk-soo was approved at a plenary session of the National Assembly on the 21st. It is the first time in constitutional history that the prime minister's dismissal proposal has passed the National Assembly.

The National Assembly held a plenary session later in the day and voted for the dismissal of a prime minister with 175 votes in favor, 116 against and four abstentions out of the total 295 votes.

The Democratic Party of Korea submitted a proposal for dismissal to the National Assembly on the 18th, citing responsibility for the Itaewon disaster, the Jamboree incident, the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan, and external pressure on the investigation into the death of Marine Corps corporal Chae.

The motion for dismissal passed the National Assembly led by the opposition party, which won the majority, but President Yoon Seok-yeol is unlikely to accept it.

Earlier, the National Assembly passed a proposal to dismiss Foreign Minister Park Jin and Public Administration and Security Minister Lee Sang-min, but President Yoon refused to accept it.
