[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Kiwoom Securities predicted on the 28th that the construction of a nickel smelter for Korea Zinc will highlight the momentum of secondary batteries in the future. The investment opinion was 'buy' and the target price was 660,000 won.

Korea Zinc plans to start a nickel refinery for secondary batteries in the second half of this year in cooperation with Trafigura. Trafigura is a global company with sales of $ 318.5 billion (about 423 trillion won) last year and produces raw materials such as crude oil, metal and minerals.

"We will complete a nickel value chain for secondary batteries that leads to the secondary battery precursor of the nickel refinery's high purity nickel → subsidiary KEMCO and LG Chem," Kiwoom Securities Co. said.

"Another secondary battery material business, copper foil, plans to obtain customer certification in the fourth quarter of this year and start a mass-production system in earnest from next year," Kiwoom Securities added. "The momentum of secondary batteries will be highlighted in the future."
