[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Hyundai Motors and Kia are working with Germany's Infineon Technologies, the world's No. 1 automotive semiconductor company, to improve electric vehicle performance and secure power semiconductor supply chains.

Hyundai Motors and Kia Motors announced on the 17th (local time) that they signed a power semiconductor strategic cooperation contract with Infineon at the Infineon headquarters in Munich, Germany.

Hyundai Motors and Kia Motors will cooperate in technology development with Infineon to improve power performance of electric and hybrid models scheduled to be released in the future. In addition, some of the power semiconductor supplies needed to produce electric vehicles will be supplied from Infineon by 2030.

Infineon is the world's No. 1 market share in automotive semiconductors. It stands out in the business of automotive and industrial power semiconductors.

Power semiconductors are key components of eco-friendly cars that convert, control, and distribute power to increase battery use time and reduce power consumption. The size of suppliers and production is limited due to high barriers to entry into technology and the need for customized design for each model.
