[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] A comeback concert by global K-pop sensation BTS at Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square will be livestreamed to audiences in more than 190 countries via Netflix, marking a major milestone for live global entertainment.
Netflix and HYBE announced on Tuesday that “BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG” will be broadcast live exclusively on Netflix on March 21 at 8 p.m. KST. It will be the first time an artist has staged a solo concert at Gwanghwamun Square.
The concert coincides with the release of BTS’s fifth full-length album, “Arirang,” which reflects on the group’s origins and evolving identity. Following the album launch, BTS plans to embark on a large-scale world tour, spanning 82 performances across 34 regions in Asia, North America, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East.
Netflix described the livestream as its first-ever live event produced in Korea for a global audience, underscoring the platform’s expansion into live programming. The BTS concert is expected to follow in the footsteps of Netflix’s recent live offerings such as Skyscraper Live, NFL Christmas Gameday, and Paul vs. Tyson. Netflix said it plans to further expand its live lineup with events including Major League Baseball, the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
In addition to the concert, Netflix will release a feature-length documentary titled “BTS: The Return” on March 27. Directed by Bao Nguyen and produced by This Machine, the film chronicles BTS’s journey back to the global stage with their first new album in three years and nine months. The documentary captures the group’s creative process as the members reunite in Los Angeles to work on new music, tracing their path from their 2013 debut to worldwide stardom.
