[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] It was found that the head of Kakao Enterprise's search in-house independent company (CIC), which is in charge of the business-to-business (B2B) business in the Kakao community, was replaced three months after he was appointed.

According to the information technology (IT) industry on the 18th, Lee Kyung-nam, leader of the search recommendation modeling team, was appointed as the new representative of Kakao Enterprise Search CIC in August this year. Former CEO Park Young-kwang resigned from his post three months after the search CIC was launched in May. Search CIC is focusing on developing the search technologies needed for enterprise IT services and providing them as B2B services.

The appointment of CEO Lee is analyzed as a measure to speed up the technology advancement and business expansion of search CIC. Lee participated in Naver (then NHN), Daum Communication, and Kakao search engine development for more than 20 years.

Kakao Enterprise has lost 140.5 billion won since its spin-off in 2019.

Kakao Enterprise reorganized its business direction around the cloud in May this year and appointed Lee Kyung-jin, vice president of the cloud division, as the new CEO. The cloud and search business has shifted to CIC. Kakao Enterprise has taken intensive management reform measures by dismissing all executives from their positions and reappointing only some of the executives needed for the reorganized company. Recently, a voluntary retirement program was implemented to reduce the number of employees (about 1,100) by about 30%.
