HYBE rose 56% this year... Bang Si-hyuk's stake value increased by 1.3 trillion won

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The value of shares by representatives of major entertainment companies has also been soaring recently on the back of a rise in stock prices of local entertainment companies. In the case of HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk (photo), the value of his stake increased by 1.3 trillion won, the report showed.

According to the Korea Exchange on the 4th, the stock price of HYBE rose 55.62% this year to 270,000 won as of the 2nd of this month. On the same day, JYP Entertainment rose 89.82% to 128,700 won, while YG Entertainment also jumped 110.26% to 92,200 won.

HYBE's stock price rose for 10 consecutive trading days from April 4-17 to 260,000 won from 190,000 won, and continued to rise, hitting a new 52-week high of 303,000 won on the 3rd of last month.

When securities firms raised their target stock prices in the first quarter of this year, JYP Entertainment's stock price jumped 20.84 percent on that day alone to 110,000 won from 90,000 won, and renewed its 52-week share price to 130,300 won on the 2nd of this month.

YG Entertainment also saw its first-quarter earnings surprise rise 17.09% on the 12th of last month and hit a 52-week high of 97,000 won on the 31st of last month.

The equity value of the largest shareholders of these companies has also skyrocketed. As of the end of March, HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk holds 13,151,394 shares (31.8%) of HIVE.

Park Jin-young, CEO producer of JYP Entertainment, owned 5,492,311 shares (15.2%), and Yang Hyun-suk, former general producer of YG Entertainment (CEO), owned 4,652,376 shares (24.92%) as of the 16th of last month.

Based on this, Chairman Bang's stake value increased by 1.27 trillion won in five months from 2.28 trillion won at the end of last year to 3.55 trillion won on the 2nd of this month.

Stock industry sources say entertainment companies are expected to have solid demand and growth potential stemming from the expansion of their global businesses.
