[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] SK Ecoplant will supply 'solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC)' as a power supply system of data center to be built in Singapore by GDS, China's largest data center development and operation company.

SK Eco Plant announced on the 4th that GDS has won a project to supply and install fuel cells in a data center in Singapore. The order was made in accordance with the 'Agreement for Fuel Cell-Linked Data Center Business Development' signed by SK Ecoplant and GDS in August last year. Shanghai-based GDS has more than 100 data centers.

SK Ecoplant is responsible for EPC (Design, Procurement, and Construction) of the entire fuel cell package. This is the first time SOFC is applied to a Singapore data center. The SOFC supplied this time is a third-generation fuel cell and has the highest power generation efficiency among existing fuel cell technologies. High-efficiency power production is possible even on narrow sites, and power can be produced 24 hours a day regardless of season and weather.

Data centers that need to store and distribute a large amount of information 365 days and 24 hours a day in real time are required to secure their own stable and efficient power system.
