[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Asiana Airlines' Pilots' Union (APU) has secured the right to legally go on strike. If the union goes on strike, it will be the first time in 18 years since 2005.

According to the industry on the 25th, the Seoul Regional Labor Relations Commission decided to 'suspend' the pilot's union's application for mediation of the dispute the previous day. The pilot union has been negotiating wages with the management since October last year, but has yet to narrow its stance over the wage increase rate. The pilot's union proposed a 10% pay increase and the management 2.5%.

The pilot's union has been holding a vote on the dispute since the 23rd. As of the 23rd, 1,095 people are eligible to vote, and if a majority of them agree, they can enter into a dispute. The results of the vote will be released at 11 a.m. on the 28th.

When the results of the vote are released, the pilot union plans to hold a dispute committee to discuss how to deal with the dispute. An official from the pilot union explained, "For now, we are planning a picket protest by attaching a phrase denouncing the company or a law-abiding struggle not to force the company's on-time entry and departure schedule."
