[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Lotte Chemical will test-run its first "four-team two-shift" since its establishment at the end of this year.
After a total of 30 months of trial operation, the plan is to fully verify the pros and cons before discussing whether to reorganize the work system.
The reason behind the four-member, two-member shift in the petrochemical industry from LG Chem to Lotte Chemical is that the form of on-site work that focuses on 24-hour production line management is relatively easy to reflect the needs of young employees who want to take full advantage of their non-working hours.
According to the petrochemical industry on the 20th, Lotte Chemical's labor and management agreed to begin pilot operation of the four-group two-shift task force (TF) team in early December this year after the fifth meeting on the 18th. The factories and departments subject to the pilot operation will discuss in detail from October to November.
Two shifts in four groups are divided into day and night shifts, with two groups working 12 hours each, while the other two groups rest. It is similar to a de facto three-day workweek with two days off and two days off. Lotte Chemical's existing four-team three-shift system is designed to work eight hours a day, four days a week.
Lotte Chemical has decided to divide the pilot operation into parts and parts. The period of partial implementation is from December this year to May 31, 2024. The full implementation will be from June 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025.
After the full implementation ends in May 2025, the union will hold a vote on the introduction. The final plan is then decided through TF discussions based on the results.
