[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] NH Nonghyup Bank has reported a financial incident involving external fraud amounting to 1.657 billion won, which occurred between May 9, 2022, and August 9, 2023. The estimated loss amount is still undetermined.

This fraud is connected to a large-scale scam that recently took place in Sejong. The suspects are accused of borrowing identification cards from colleagues under the pretext of real estate investments and using them to apply for non-face-to-face credit loans and leasehold loans through banking apps.

The suspects are said to have exploited multiple banks, including NH Nonghyup, KB Kookmin, Shinhan, SC First Bank, and local Saemaul Geumgo branches. NH Nonghyup confirmed the financial incident after a customer, whose identity was misused, filed a complaint.
