[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] SK Telecom announced on the 29th that it has invested 100 million dollars (about 130 billion won) in the US JOBY Aviation, an urban air transport (UAM) manufacturer.

The UAM business cooperation, which began in February last year, led to investment. SK Telecom plans to secure a 2% stake in JOBY with this investment and take a more advantageous position in the 'K-UAM Grand Challenge' promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

JOBY is a global leader in the development of UAM vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL). The S4 fuselage developed by JOBY can fly at 322 km per hour and a maximum of 241 km per hour. It is also the first industry leader to receive G-1 certification, a commercial license from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). As the news spread, JOBY shares listed on the New York Stock Exchange rose more than 40% from the previous chapter.

SK Telecom was already working on business cooperation with Jobi as a K-UAM business gas manufacturer in February last year. He then formed a 'blood alliance' through equity investment and started long-term cooperation.
