If the agreement fails, the union will be allowed to go on a legitimate strike. Concerns are rising that if the Our Home labor union goes on strike, it could also affect the leadership of Koo Ji-eun, who is under threat of managerial control.
According to the food industry on the 23rd, the National Labor Relations Commission is in the process of adjusting wage negotiations between labor and management, which the Ourhome union has applied for. The adjustment period is on the 24th, and if the adjustment fails by this day, the decision to suspend the adjustment will be made. The suspension of mediation means that labor and management can no longer adjust, allowing the union to go on a legal strike after a vote.
Currently, the union is demanding an 8.5% increase in annual salary, a fixed amount, and incentives based on last year's maximum performance. On the other hand, the company has offered a 1.9% increase and a portion of the flat amount. In terms of wage increase rate, the union side is 13% and the management is 4%. If the wage increase rate between labor and management is large, the National Labor Relations Commission usually concludes that the adjustment will be suspended.
If the union goes on strike, it will be a significant burden on Koo Ji-eun. If the trust relationship with the union is broken, it may not be supported by the union in future management disputes. Critics point out that it is in Koo's favor to maintain the union's support as there is still room for another management dispute at next year's shareholders' meeting.
