Jin Air Flight Returns to Gimhae Airport After Engine Noise During Takeoff, Passengers Rebooked

[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] A Jin Air flight departing from Gimhae, South Korea, heading to Okinawa, Japan, was forced to return to the airport after an unusual engine noise was heard during takeoff. The flight, LJ371, returned to Gimhae International Airport 1 hour and 17 minutes after departure.


According to Jin Air on Tuesday, the incident occurred at 8:40 AM when the aircraft took off from Gimhae International Airport, en route to Okinawa. A loud noise was reported coming from the engine during takeoff.


The crew decided to return, and due to landing weight restrictions, the flight circled over Geoje Island to burn fuel before safely landing back at Gimhae International Airport at 9:56 AM.


Jin Air replaced the aircraft and resumed the flight at 11:25 AM. The rebooked flight arrived in Okinawa at 1:39 PM the same day.
