[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Expectations have grown that overseas exports will be added as Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power won the lawsuit against its U.S. rival.

According to the Korea Exchange on the 19th, Doosan Energy closed at 17,900 won, up 5.17% from the previous day. KEPCO Technology (4.95%) and KEPCO KPS (3.34%) also rose. The mood changed as Doosan Enerbility and KEPCO Technologies fell 2.57% and 3.39%, respectively, until the 18th of this month.

A federal district court in Washington, D.C. on the 18th (local time) rejected a lawsuit filed by Westinghouse, a local nuclear power company, against Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. In October last year, Westinghouse said that Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. wanted to export its nuclear power to Poland, the Czech Republic and Saudi Arabia

The Korean Nuclear Power Plant (APR1400) filed a lawsuit, claiming that it used its technology, which is subject to export control. In response, the court dismissed the suit without judging the content, saying it belongs to the U.S. government, not Westinghouse.

Nuclear power shares have been on the rise as Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. eased the burden on exporting nuclear power plants in the future. Nuclear power plants are exported in a turnkey manner that is responsible for design, procurement, and construction. If Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. succeeds in winning the final order, it will participate in the project with local nuclear power plant construction and equipment suppliers. In the case of Saeul Units 3 and 4, where APR1400 was first applied, KEPCO Technology was in charge of the comprehensive design and Doosan Enerbility was in charge of supplying reactor facilities such as the main machine. A consortium of three companies, Samsung C&T, Doosan Enerbility and Hanwha Engineering & Construction, will carry out the construction.
