Originally, the suspension of transmission was announced from the 20th, but the government decided to temporarily suspend the transmission during the operation of the consultative body as it issued administrative guidance in accordance with the corrective order. In the end, the two companies decided to determine the fairness of the contract in the price verification council.
Hyundai Home Shopping announced that it would temporarily suspend KT Skylife transmission. So far, the two companies have not narrowed their positions on transmission fees. As the so-called "blackout" became visible, the Ministry of Science and ICT expressed its strong intention with administrative guidance banning the suspension of broadcasting during the operation of the price verification consultative body.
The two sides disagree over home shopping transmission fees. Hyundai Home Shopping is demanding a move to the last digit channel number as the deficit continues in the current channel number (No. 6). If you move to the back number, the transmission fee will be lowered. On the other hand, KT Skylife rejects it because it is difficult to find an alternative operator to enter Channel 6. It also does not accept a fee cut that takes this into account.
During the negotiations, Hyundai Home Shopping proposed various alternatives and transmission fees, including competitive bidding and multi-year contracts, if they maintain number 6. However, KT Skylife insisted that the suspension of transmission was an infringement of viewing rights, sticking to the unacceptable answer. As the two sides failed to narrow their differences, chances are high that the first price verification consultative body will be held.
The battle between the two companies is also fierce. KT Skylife stressed that Hyundai Home Shopping notified the suspension of transmission before the guideline negotiation period and did not disclose mobile data. According to the revised guidelines, the basic negotiation period is five months and additional negotiation period (up to three months) can be selected.
