[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] It has been confirmed that the National Tax Service has recently launched and is conducting a tax investigation against Lotte Property & Development.

According to Lotte Property & Development today (21st), the National Tax Service has launched a tax probe into the 2019-2020 business year since late last month.

The International Trade Investigation Bureau of the Seoul Regional Tax Office, which was put into its headquarters in Songpa-gu, Seoul, conducts tax audits mainly on companies with foreign capital invested or corporations with a high proportion of overseas sales. It is also used when allegations of offshore tax evasion are detected.

It is noted that the tax investigation into Lotte Property & Development is the third of its kind in the 2020s and was launched less than three months after winning a lawsuit against the National Tax Service in early May.

The National Tax Service also imposed fines on Lotte C&T in 2020 and 2021 after launching a tax probe. 2020 was a regular tax investigation for the business year of 2015, and 2021 was conducted in the form of a special tax investigation.
