[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyundai Motor and Kia will establish flexible and innovative R&D systems such as startups to cope with the transition to electricization systems and software-oriented cars (SDVs).

Hyundai and Kia announced on the 12th that they will reorganize the R&D headquarters from a centralized form centered on the development of finished cars to a ATO between independent organizations.

To this end, parts directly related to vehicle development were collected and promoted to the headquarters, and the next-generation innovation technology sector among the existing R&D headquarters was reorganized and organized as a separate charge.
 



Under the chief technology officer (CTO), which is in charge of research and development (R&D), it has a △ independent development organization and design organization, which is in charge of △TVD (Total Vehicle Development) headquarters △ Meta (Mobility Engineering & Tech Acceleration) in charge of vehicle software (SW) △ It has its own development system.

At CTO, Kim Yong-hwa, vice president of R&D, was promoted to president and also serves as a vehicle SW manager. Vice President Yang Hee-won, who was previously in charge of integrated product development, was appointed as the head of the TVD headquarters, and META will be appointed later.
