[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] SKC is in the process of selling its semiconductor materials and components subsidiary, SK Enpulse, according to industry sources on the 3rd. The company is negotiating with several private equity fund (PEF) managers regarding the sale, and no lead advisor has been appointed.

Previously, SKC sold SK Enpulse's fine ceramics division to the PEF manager Hahn & Company for approximately 360 billion KRW. Fine ceramics are materials used in semiconductor applications, enhanced with high-purity inorganic compounds for increased durability.

The current sale targets are SK Enpulse's remaining CMP (Chemical Mechanical Polishing) division and Blank Mask division.

CMP refers to the process of chemically and mechanically polishing thin films formed on wafers. SK Enpulse successfully localized CMP pads, previously dominated by foreign companies, using SKC’s polyurethane technology.

Blank masks are a key material used in photomasks for semiconductor lithography. SKC Solmix has also localized high-quality blank masks that were previously monopolized by foreign firms.

Additionally, SKC has decided on a 165 billion KRW capital reduction for SK Enpulse, with the majority of the reduction proceeds going to SKC, which holds a 96.49% stake in the subsidiary.
