Police Refer Kumho Tire Executives to Prosecutors Over Repeated Factory Fires

[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Gwangju – The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency’s Criminal Investigation Unit announced on September 4 the results of its investigation into the fire incident that occurred on May 17 at Kumho Tire’s Gwangju plant.



According to the police, the fire originated in an industrial oven located on the second floor of the mixing building, where 17 separate fire incidents have occurred over the past five years.



Police stated they will refer four company officials, including the plant manager, to prosecutors on charges of negligence for failing to fulfill their duty of care.
